The Weimar Republic: Germany’s First Democracy

An Exhibition on Tour Since November 2015

An Exhibition on Tour Since November 2015

Almost 100 years after its founding, the fascination with the Weimar Republic continues unabated. Its start is one of the greatest turning points of our history: Germany becomes a democracy for the first time! No other era saw a rise and a fall so close together. Never before had there been a comparable level of technological progress. And never again has German culture flourished so abundantly.

The touring exhibition “THE WEIMAR REPUBLIC. GERMANY’S FIRST DEMOCRACY” illustrates the promising beginnings but also the crises that the republic managed to escape from again and again, as well as its disastrous end when the Nazis seized power. It highlights the role of quiet heroes, forgotten today, who risked their lives for the democracy.

Come and experience the breathtaking momentum of the German people’s leap into the modern era. Plunge into one of German history’s most thrilling chapters and rediscover it in an entirely new light! Four video cubes and 16 multimedia stations tell the story of this restless era from numerous perspectives. Interactive games serve as a kind of time machine, helping you feel the splendor and tragedy of the time.

Free entrance!

We have compiled a small brochure (German) featuring important information for those interested in the exhibition.
