Foreign Minister Gustav Stresemann sends a memorandum on the European security issue to France. In doing so, he hopes to appease French security fears and to explore possibilities of a trade agreement with the French government.

At an assembly attended by several thousand people, Adolf Hitler declares the re-establishment of the NSDAP. Hitler already managed to legalize the NSDAP in Bavaria in January; the other federal states in the German Reich followed suit shortly thereafter.

Reichspräsident Friedrich Ebert dies of appendicitis and peritonitis. Undoubtedly, the hostility and insults previously endured by Ebert also had a role to play in the deterioration of his health.
