Several emergency decrees reflecting Brüning’s deflation policy are signed by Reichspräsident Hindenburg. These primarily contain austerity measures but also provide for benefits for the work force which had been negotiated by the SPD, such as an exemption from health insurance contributions for the unemployed. Since seeking to repeal these decrees could have resulted in the dissolution of the Reichstag, the SPD votes on 6 December against a repeal.
