Bloody conflicts break out during a communist rally at the May Day celebrations in Berlin. On this day, 7 people are killed and over 100 people are wounded. In the days that follow, the KPD and the Reich government argue and aim accusations at each other concerning the events of 1 May.

Minister of the Interior Carl Severing calls for Prussia, and then the other federal states, to ban the Red Front Fighter’s League. Prussia, Bavaria, Saxony, Lippe-Detmold and Mecklenburg-Strelitz do so immediately.
